One Kilogram

Sydney passed the one kilogram (2 lbs 2 ounces) mark on Sunday the 23rd. She has been handling her food well, which we are happy about. Hitting this milestone of one kilogram means that we are able to kangaroo with Sydney everyday as long as she behaves. The Dr is using a dieratic to help dry out the fluid around her lungs which will help her become stronger and more stable on the ventalator.

Hi Guys,
My name is Carolynn and I know your Mum Sandy through Wetcanvas. I have been working in Neonatail Intensive Care now for 23 years 8 months. Sydney looks to be doing very well. I do however have a question for you, did the Neonatologist use a sunstance called Surfactant in her lungs when she was first born.? I don't know if this gives you my e-mail address but your Mum has it and you are very welcome o write to me and ask any questions you like and Ican see if I can answer them

The Unit I work in is the biggest unit in the Southern Hemisphere, we have babies from 23 weeks and have a very high rate of very good quality babies who go home from us. We have on occasion had younger babies but that is the exception.
Hope all is going well, I check your site a few times a day just incase you have updated.
Love and best wishes Carolynn

Dear Team Syndey,
We just finished watching the slideshow of baby Sydney. She looks so comfortable nestled in the arms of her wonderful, adoring parents. Great news that she continues to gain weight and get stronger. We look forward to receiving more pictures of baby Sydney and like you, look forward to the day when she comes home to the room we are sure is adorned with every little girl accesory imaginable! We wish you the happiest and healthiest New Year.
Love to you all,
Gina and Andy Egel
